It is a rare accomplishment for a family–run firm to stay in business, without changing scope, for over 55 years. On 8 January, 1946 Naviera
Comercial S. A. (Navicoas)
was constituted as a company. In the beginning, aside from strictly shipping, the company, whose central offices were located in Seville with branches in Madrid, Badajoz and Malaga, engaged in other activities as well, such as the rental of oilcloth and tarpaulins to cover merchandise on the wharves, and the purchase and sale of grains and livestock feed.

A decision was taken in 1962 to expand into new activities and the present phase of real estate development and promotion was begun as the company changed its name to Industrial y Comercial Aspe,
S. A.
while keeping the Navicoas
acronym.

At that time the company began buying land and developing the business of building
and promoting luxury buildings, thus consolidating its prestige on the real
estate market. In 1969, two years before the firm celebrated its 25th anniversary,
D. Braulio Ortiz Perez de Ayala
, was named chief executive officer and is now the firm's chairman.
In 1976, land was purchased on which to build the Navicoas Parque building, which could be called our most emblematic work to date, having received rave reviews from critics as well
as Spain's National Architecture Award.

In 1978 D. Francisco Javier de Aspe García-Junco joined the company as a director.

After this, and up to the present day, the company has purchased undeveloped land in the city of Sevilla and in the neighbouring Aljarafe area, where it has built very successful projects, as well as in the provinces of Cadiz, Huelva and Malaga. Our completed sea–front projects in these provinces, including Urbanización Costa Zahara, Edificio Navicoas Playa and Naviluz, have had an extraordinary response.
